History (summer 2004)

Research project: Modeling fields of grass in real-time. Every blade in the field is uniquely generated based on several key parameters which has inflict on the time depended motion of the straw which is considered as a damped harmonic oscillator. The initial deflection is determined as if the blade was a simpel cantilevered beam. Using the Cg vp4 profile’s vertex fetching support it is possible to let the GPU run the entire physical computation. An arbitrary number of dynamical wind loads can be applied without increasing the computation time.
